I’D RATHER GLIDE ON MY PADDLEBOARD

Swapping alcohol for real-life, outdoor experiences feels amazing!


Recently, I had an AMAZING experience on my SUP board (stand-up paddleboard). 🤩🏄‍♀️

I paddled for 12 miles straight, only stopping for quick water breaks.

It was a complete and utterly blissful experience. 😍

I read Annie Grace @thisnakedmind’s new book today, “Buzz to Buzzkill” and she was talking about how alcohol steals your joy, and it’s so true.

Alcohol gives you a 20-minute high, and then as your body is rushing to get the toxin out of your bloodstream, it dumps dynorphin to save your life.

But then a side effect is that you actually feel worse than before you started, so you order another drink and another, and then the next thing you know, you drank way more than you had intended.

You feel sick, hungover, extremely anxious in the middle of the night and full of guilt and shame.

It’s a really vicious cycle.

Instead of trading 20-minutes of artificial pleasure for hours or days of misery recovering from a hangover - I’d rather glide on my paddleboard 🏄‍♀️ for four hours and feel amazing 🤩.

It’s not even just the four hours that I was propelling myself forward with the sun shining on me and the wind touching my cheeks that were so wonderful.

It’s the fact that I’ve had warm and fuzzy feelings ever since, just savoring that incredible memory.

So for me, it’s a NO-BRAINER choice = I CHOOSE JOY. 😊
