my story
I spent 20 years of my adult life drinking alcohol. I drank alcohol when I was happy, when I was sad, when I was anxious, and when I needed to numb uncomfortable feelings. I drank on the weekends, at happy hours, and at parties.
I didn’t know it at the time, but I was drinking in the gray area.
From the outside, my drinking appeared “normal,” until one day, it didn’t. By the way, ‘normal’ turned out to be a myth because there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption.
A series of events between 2017 and 2018 pushed me into a dark place where my drinking started to exit the gray area and enter the danger zone.
I knew something was terribly wrong – but I couldn’t stop.
Not drinking felt like a punishment. I especially couldn’t get over the FOMO of watching my friends go to bars, wine tastings, and beer festivals without me.
I couldn’t believe I was in the other camp of alcohol dependency. I believed what society told me to – that there were only “normal” drinkers and “alcoholics.” You either had a problem, or you didn’t.
I also believed the lie that I needed alcohol to have fun, de-stress, be successful, and to be creative.
Did you know…
In early 2020, I started to make good progress. I found a new therapist, got my dream puppy, started reading quit lit, and began to break free from toxic relationships and situations.
For the first time in years, I was accumulating days, weeks, and even months of sobriety. But, from time to time, I would give in to cravings and revert to old ways.
On January 1, 2021, I took my last drink. I knew in my gut that I had had enough. However, there was clearly a missing link to this drinking puzzle, and I was determined to find it.
I WAS FINALLY BREAKING THE SPELL THAT alcohol HAD ON ME.
I re-watched Jolene Park’s Ted Talk about Gray Area Drinking and clicked on her website. When I read that “Jolene guides clients through the missing physiological pieces that they need to reduce excessive alcohol consumption, anxiety and cravings,” there was undeniable resonance. I had finally found what I was looking for.
I started working with Jolene that week, and I haven’t looked back since.
I come from the worlds of business, education, and charity.

In my coaching practice, I work with type A individuals who are prone to perfectionism, have a lot on their plate, and rely on alcohol night after night to try and relax.

I’m full of gratitude for making the choice to not only remove alcohol from my life but to become a Gray Area Drinking and Health Coach. Now I help others regain control of their lives and live with happiness and health – alcohol-free.
Many people suffer from overwhelm, stress, and the lack of sleep that comes with trying to "do it all," so they start drinking to help feel calmer and more in control. However, the opposite happens, and they experience the anxiety that comes with drinking – which only adds to their problems.
Alcohol is an addictive substance that wreaks havoc on your brain 🧠 and nervous system.
It can sneak into your life subtly and quickly become the crutch you need to get through each day.
I focus on bio-individuality – the idea that we’re all different and have unique dietary, lifestyle, emotional, and physical needs.
If you’re sick of letting alcohol dim your light, then together, we can Brighten Your Life so you can self-regulate your own nervous system, live an alcohol-free lifestyle, and elevate your life instead of escaping it.
We’ll share experiences and find inspiration for change. I’ll give you the guidance and education you need to transition from gray area drinking into a healthy and safe lifestyle. You’ll have everything you need to make informed choices and live your best life.
