Free Resource Page for Loved Ones of Those Struggling with Substance use Disorder

A Compassionate Space for Loved Ones of Those Facing Substance use Disorder

If someone you love is battling substance misuse, you know how challenging, heart-wrenching, and overwhelming it can be. Watching a loved one struggle with substances not only affects your health and well-being, but also deeply impacts your emotional and mental state. Whether it’s feelings of helplessness, frustration, or an unwavering determination to help them, the journey can often feel isolating.

I’ve been there. As someone who faced alcohol use disorder head-on, I intimately understand the toll that substance use disorder takes on both the individual and their loved ones. My husband, Evan, stood by me during my recovery, experiencing the fear, despair, and hope that come with supporting someone through such a personal battle. Inspired by our shared journey, I’ve created a Free Resource Page for Loved Ones of Those Struggling with Substance Use Disorder.

This page is a collection of tools for those seeking understanding, support, and evidence-based tools to help navigate this difficult path.

Why This Resource Page is Important for Loved Ones of Those with Substance Use Disorder

Substance misuse doesn’t exist in isolation; the ripple effects touch families, friends, and entire communities. The emotional weight that loved ones carry often includes:

  • Emotional Strain: Anxiety, depression, or burnout from trying to help

  • Social Stigma: Judgments or misconceptions about substance use disorder

  • Lack of Resources: Difficulty finding reliable, compassionate guidance and support for caregivers or families

With these challenges in mind, my Free Resources Page offers many tools to empower and uplift those navigating this complex journey. The goal is to remind you that you are not alone and to equip you with the knowledge and resources needed to support both yourself and your loved one.
