I’m back from another inspiring and empowering journey into the world of alcohol-free living! The Sober in the City (SITC) Seattle event in September 2024, hosted by Zero Proof Experiences (ZPE), delivered yet another unforgettable alcohol-free adventure that was nothing short of extraordinary.

From mocktails and mindful walks to powerful workshops and delicious non-alcoholic tastings, this transformative event reminded us of the joy, connection, and personal growth that comes with an alcohol-free lifestyle. As part of the ever-growing Sober In The City movement, the weekend was filled with laughter, discovery, and shared experiences that left everyone buzzing with excitement.

Let’s dive into the highlights of this incredible weekend!

A Warm Welcome at SITC Seattle 2024: Mocktails, Art, and Adventure

My Sober In The City journey began with an energizing start! After a smooth flight with a refreshing mocktail courtesy of JetBlue, I arrived at my hotel in Seattle ready to dive into all the weekend had to offer. And, of course, the first thing I did was indulge in a locally-grown Washington apple—the best I’ve had in recent memory! 🍎

Thursday evening was off to a glamorous start with a special dinner hosted by Alysse Bryson, aka @thesobercurator, at the Mutual Arts Collective, a gallery owned by none other than Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready. 🎸 The evening was filled with delicious bites from Matt’s in the Market and mocktail sips from Drink Hoplark, setting the tone for an amazing weekend ahead. The night capped off with a thrilling ‘Wings Over Washington’ experience, designed by the same creative minds behind Disney’s ‘Soarin' Over California.’ It was the perfect way to begin the weekend and left everyone in awe of the beauty and spirit of the Pacific Northwest! 🌲✨

Friday Morning Fun in Seattle: Connection, Workshops, and Sober Shopping Fun

Friday kicked off with a light workout followed by a hotel breakfast I’m still dreaming about—tiramisu pancakes! 🍽️ After fueling up, I had the chance to bond with Chris Dingess (@growing.comfortable) during a sun-soaked morning walk. There’s something special about starting the day outdoors, moving your body, and connecting with fellow Zero Proof friends.

A bit of spontaneous fun followed! I went shoe shopping with Andrea Helms (@run.andrea.run), who also treated me to a delicious Sage Latte that was simply divine. ☕️ And then, before the afternoon festivities started, I carved out some nourishing “me” time by treating myself to a delicious lunch at Din Tai Fung and a mani/pedi at Be Chic Nails.

Friday Meet & Greet: Mocktails, Vision Boards, and Connection

Friday afternoon at SITC Seattle was all about connection. We kicked things off with the Meet & Greet, where I picked up my welcome bag. It included postcards (with my mocktail recipe and pens!) plus other goodies. Next, we headed to the Solo Social hosted by Kindred Spirits Bottle Shop, a local alcohol-free bottle shop and sober bar. 🍷 The owner, Marlys, introduced us to a variety of NA wines including Curious Elixirs, Zilch, Waterbrook Winery, and Unwine’d. YUM!

Later, Casey Davidson, host of the Hello Someday podcast, shared her insights in an interactive session focused on setting goals and creating vision boards. 📝 This inspiring session allowed us to reflect on our intentions and aspirations for the future. A big shoutout to Heather Lowe (@ditchedthedrink) for lending her incredible speaking skills throughout the day!

Friday Night’s Immersive Drumming Experience

As the sun set, Friday evening closed with an experience I’ll never forget—a drumming circle led by John Hayden (@jamtownlive). 🥁 There’s something incredibly grounding about rhythmic drumming, and this immersive session thoroughly nourished my nervous system. It provided a much-needed release and a sense of calm to end an action-packed day. The energy of the drumbeats was so powerful that it left everyone feeling grounded, energized, and truly connected. ❤️

Saturday’s Sober Adventure: Panels, Workshops, and More!

Saturday at Sober In The City Seattle brought even more opportunities for growth and learning from thought leaders in the sobriety space. The day began with a panel discussion hosted by Martha Wright, founder of Clear Power Coaching. We heard from three incredible Pacific Northwest non-alcoholic beverage companies and learnt about their unique approach to creating alcohol-free options that still pack a flavorful punch!

Drink Jøyus: The first sober and woman-owned non-alcoholic winery in the U.S., and the first to win a gold medal in a major wine competition! 🍷

The Pathfinder: A hemp-based, fermented spirit alternative with intense flavor and aromatic depth. 🌿

Wilderton Free: A craft non-alcoholic spirit expertly distilled for bold, delicious cocktails. 🍹

We sampled their fantastic beverages and were blown away by their depth and complexity.

Choose Your Own Adventure: Empowerment and Nervous System Regulation

As with every Sober In The City event, Saturday’s offerings were set up like a “choose your own adventure” day! Attendees could participate in workshops ranging from empowerment and social media strategies for sober businesses to parenting sober and emotional navigation.

I had the honor of leading a workshop titled "Regulate Your Nervous System & Brighten Your Life," where I guided attendees through somatic practices to help manage stress, anxiety, and cravings. Everyone received a custom Calm Strip featuring my sunset logo and an acupressure ring—two handy tools for nervous system regulation. 🌅 The experience of teaching these life-changing techniques to such a receptive audience was both humbling and rewarding.

A Transformative Weekend That Leaves You Wanting More

The beauty of Sober In The City Seattle 2024 wasn’t just in the activities or the amazing mocktails—it was in the sense of community that blossomed among everyone present. Each moment was filled with laughter, vulnerability, and a shared understanding of what it means to live life fully, free from alcohol.

The weekend wrapped up with a feeling of gratitude, inspiration, and excitement for the future. From the interactive vision board workshop by Casey Davidson to Heather Lowe's incredible speaking sessions, every aspect of SITC Seattle was designed to uplift and empower every individual in attendance.
